Projects

The network is constantly upgrading its services and reinvesting in the region. Future plans for the sustainable management and development of the network are described in our Asset Management Plan, (AMP). The AMP is updated annually and our current one covers a planning period for the next 10 years. Included in the plan are prioritised programs and projects for the maintenance, renewal and development of the network designed to deliver optimum customer service, safe and operational efficiency within financial boundaries. Notable projects described in the current AMP, and planned for the 2010/11 financial year, include:

Pole and conductor replacement

As part of a continuing aged asset replacement program, Eastland Network plan to replace around 750 poles and approximately 3km of conductor line.

Substation security upgrade

As part of an ongoing programme to enhance the security of the network substation sites, the fence at the Parkinson Street zone substation is to be upgraded.

Muriwai Voltage Regulator

To accommodate forecast growth in the Muriwai and Manutuke areas, an 11kV voltage regulator is to be installed to mitigate any potential voltage quality issues.

Undergrounding

This is a continuing program, with the planned conversion of selected overhead reticulation (poles and wires) to underground cabling. Primarily this conversion work is undertaken in urban commercial areas.

Mahia Subtransmission Upgrade

To accommodate expected load growth associated with subdivision developments on the Mahia Penninsul,a this project includes the extension of and existing subtransmission line and the establishment of a new 33/11kV zone substation.
